Healthy Habits: Getting Enough Sleep

Sleep is also one of the most essential healthy habits that you need to implement daily! Ages 18-60 are recommended seven or more hours each night and 60+ are recommended eight to ten hours of sleep, to get the correct amount of sleep cycles and rest. During sleep, there are so many important things that happen throughout your body. The advantages of sleep, include improved mood, boosted metabolism, restored immune system, improved mental functioning, maintenance of healthy weight, stress relief, regulated blood pressure, and increased energy levels. Sleep has been something that I always put on the back burner and wasn't as important in my life. Throughout my past in high school and early college, I would only get 3-6 hours of sleep depending on my homework load. However, within this past week, I have been setting myself up for sleep at an earlier time, to get my full seven hours of rest. Since doing this, my mood, energy levels, and mental functioning have already improved immens...

Healthy Habits: Eating Healthy foods

Eating healthy is a great healthy habit to implement in your day-to-day eating routine. Eating "healthy" can look different to everyone, whether that being an "everything in moderation" diet, vegetarian diet, vegan diet, etc. In the blog post, I will be mainly talking about the "everything in moderation" diet because that is what my diet is. Some of the benefits of eating healthy include a longer lifespan, healthy eyes/teeth/skin, boosting immunity, strengthening bones, lowering the risk of heart disease, aides the digestion system, etc. With each healthy food, there are endless benefits, but these are in general the most common benefits of eating healthy. Some healthy foods that I implement in my diet include nuts, fish, vegetables, fruits, high-fiber foods, and unprocessed foods. But I in general eat a variety of food but try to eat more on the healthier side. This is also something I am working on daily and want to become better at. Eat Healthy!

Healthy Habits: Drinking Water

Drinking water is one of the most essential habits in your daily routine. Drinking water can prevent dehydration, carry oxygen & nutrients into the body, flush bacteria from the bladder, aid digestion, prevent constipation, normalize blood pressure, cushion joints, protect organs & tissues, and regulate body temperature. Men should drink 15.5 cups of water (3.7 liters), and women should drink 11.5 cups of water (2.7 liters). I personally would like to work on this more. I genuinely do not drink enough water for my weight and age but am trying my very best to mainly just drink water, and water only. Something I noticed after drinking more water is that I have more energy, clearer skin, less bloating, and better digestion. Drink your water!

Healthy Habits: Taking Supplements

What are supplements? Supplements provide a dietary ingredient either in a pill, powder, or liquid form. Some examples of dietary supplements include  vitamins, minerals, herbs, botanicals, amino acids, and/or enzymes. These are all essential for the body to function properly and perform to its best ability. There are many benefits to taking supplements, some include maintaining healthiness in nerve & blood cells, reduction of birth defects, strengthening bones, promoting bone health, prevention of cell damage, reduces the likelihood of disease(es), heart health support, slow down vision loss, and/or promote skin health. I personally take collagen, aloe vera, fish oil, a women's multivitamin, magnesium, and d3. Ever since I began taking these supplements, I have immediately noticed a difference in my general health and skin health. If you decide to begin taking supplements, make sure to talk to a healthcare provider before taking any supplement(s).
